Youth and Fitness is the Austin Foundation's original program. It is held at the Garfield Community Center in 6-week increments during fall, winter and spring quarters and is open to participants from the ages of 6 to 20. Now in its 14th year, Youth and Fitness incorporates a sampling of different forms of physical activity and components of a healthy life, including a healthy diet and a healthy mind.

Spring 2009 Youth & Fitness
Saturdays, April 11th, 18th, 25th, May
2nd, 9th, 16th  from 2:00 to 4:30pm

Please arrive at 1:30 on the first day to Register!

Youth & Fitness Spring Showcase May 30th from 1:30 to 4:30pm

Summer Youth and Fitness Camp

The summer Youth and Fitness Camp allows participants ages 5 and up to experience a variety of physical activities, learn about health and fitness and have lots of fun. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and water bottle.

Private Schools
Youth learn about the importance of physical activities, how to stay fit and healthy, and what role nutrition plays in their everyday life, while earning their PE credits.

Ryther Child Center
Fitness education and physical activities are taught to the teens in the in-patient alcohol and drug rehab program. Classes promote self-esteem, the benefits of movement and how to stay positive by using physical fitness as their tool. Current programming includes a yoga class.

King County Juvenile Detention Center
This program is part of the interagency school system for the Youth Detention Center. Youth learn about the basic principles of fitness and how to use them to reduce stress.
